Mankind
faced with the sheer inconceivableness
Of the reality of existence
invented magic
as a way to explain
what couldn't be explained

It worked so well
that when science
finally began to have answers
the majority stubbornly
continued to believed
in magic

As for me
I can't even reconcile the void
from whence we sprang
and am simply content
to exist
without any answers

Mobile Bay leaps and lashes
in a frenzy of tropical discord

Scavenging gulls - safer aloft than not
have seen this dance before
and know when the waves settle
the feast will be served
