Is it the boy or the gun

how would he have vented his anger

without the weapon

how would he know himself

without the hate

The doctrine of white replacement

stirred the hate

and other haters told him

murder was the answer

No one wanted to replace him

no one wanted to marginalize him

the ugly voices pressed him

to do their dirty work

the gun lobby gave him the means

Ten innocent lives lost

because an eighteen year old

felt threatened through the

hate mongering of an obsessive fringe

that won't accept the meaning of humanity

A Lonely Deep Intelligence

With poetic depth and grace

we wait for the unfolding of wings

the dance between the clouds

in the eternal silence

What we know about ourselves

is not what we have been told

but what we have lived

we must delve into our minds

and trust ourselves

to see beyond our eyes
