Awesome

Look around you and tell me
where do you see devotion
is it truly in your own heart
can it reside in the breast of the disinterested
I know someone that no matter how the reins get tangled
he keeps the team in hand
where there is a bend in the road
he anticipates the possibilities
he vaults the turnstile stares down the clocks
he need not vent his spleen
for that was done for him
all the while
ever your friend
ever your lover
ever your brother
ever the man

And where does it fit
In truth
That you broke my heart?

I tell my skeptic friends
That we live on two sides
Of the fence
I have my view
You have yours

But we'll never cross
That fence
Neither you nor I
I will not see as you do
Nor you from my side

Be the lover, the friend
The son, the man
Who questions it?
Define your limits
Name no partner
Make it all, all about you

Question my devotion
I've heard it all before
You question my faith
In you, my love for you

It all stays the same

Be the poet
The wordsmith
The tempter
The hands of passion
The face of arrogance

You have all you need
Do all you wish
Never need question
Your skill

I never doubted you
Even when abandoned
From one-sided fears

Be the friend, the son
The man
But when did you become
The lover?
And with whom?

If you doubt
Your allure
Note I've spoken of you
After swearing I'd never
Do it again.
