The Unimaginable

The velocity with which
the unimaginable
tears through the fabric
of our culture
leaves us coated in the
dust of bewilderment
and distrust

In the twenty-first century
humankind is still at odds
with itself
unable to realize
its abounding differences
are its strength
not its weakness

We've let foxes take charge
of the henhouse
we let the wolf howl
his vitriol
and satisfy his need
to dominate
and scatter the flock

His howling won't cease
until he and his pack are
driven back into the forest
the unimaginable will remain
until we demand truth
our culture can only heal
through unity
