Wolfbeat

The moon quivers to the wolfbeat
I pull my covers tighter
and wonder if your nightgown
has crawled above your hips

I watched a starling search a lawn today
and wondered if I knew how to look
past the plenty that you offer
to the reason that you touch me

Oh to be alone in the forest
and startle ourselves into being
people would come looking though
and feel compelled to tell us we were lost

Where are all my yesterdays
The child I used to be
When the world was new and endless
And my friends surrounded me
Somewhere long forgotten
We grew and learned to care
And our fates were tied together
In a circle we would share

But now I see my seasons fading
And the past becomes a dream
Through the years of many changes
Only love remained the same
And the memories of the lives we shared
Even time cannot remove
And I keep you in the circle
Of the faces that I love...

Maybe verse II sometime...
