Smoke

My crisp edges
are a counterfeit facade
a foil for a frayed center and
weed blown conscience
that pretends everything
and portends nothing

The insipid little thoughts
that invade my friable mind
don't have enough glue
to hold my soul together
my dreams settle about my feet
like a sluggish smoke
